Tug-A-Jug Toy Review

December 20, 2009 by electnology

I have the older version of the Tug-A-Jug  with the rubber purple rope and it seems like they switched to a cloth one. I bought this toy for my pup because I wanted her to use her brain and not wolf down her food and choke on it. It’s a great toy but if your dog is the swinging type, I would recommend staying away from them if they’re playing with it. Also, if you have dog food that is relatively wide or big, it’s going to be really hard for your pup to get out the food. One more thing, if your dog is a swinger… don’t let them play with this near glass tables or anything glass. But it’s held up relatively well and my dog, though not the most aggressive chewer, does rip up stuffed animals in minutes, and also plastic bottles, and leashes, and clothes, however if the rope does come off, just stick a ball in the bottle some peanut butter at the end, or a bit of water and freeze it (or in any other way a Kong is used). Another con is that the bottle should be filled up to more than halfway because if not, the food won’t come out. Pictures coming up soon!

ASUS EEE PC 1000HA

January 13, 2009 by electnology

Hey you guys, sorry for the long absence.

Just the other day, I received my new Asus EEE PC 1000HA!

If you guys haven’t heard of these little awesome little things, they were originally the laptops that Asus was rumored to sell for 100 bucks. It actually went out on the market for more, but they were still insanely affordable. As the newer models came out with more features, the price tag has inflated as well.

I bought a 4G Surf off of craigslist (an awesome place to get stuff by the way!) for about $125. It’s pretty cool, but the hard drive just didn’t cut it, and plus my mom wanted it, so off to her it goes.

Anyways, when I unboxed the 1000HA, it was lovely.

(Sorry I don’t have any pictures, my camera is broken)

I got it for $300.

And one great thing to note is that it comes with it’s own sleeve so you don’t need to go out and buy one. It does load up very quickly, only taking about 20 seconds I would say, but I’ll check that later.

OH! and it’s battery life is about 4 hours WITH WiFi =D

and it also is a 10 inch laptop vs. the 4G’s 7 inches but it’s still UBER portable and the keyboard is much larger and more comfortable, which is a great trade off, not to mention the much bigger hard drive (160 GB vs. 4GB).

Although it is true that if you spend a bit more money, you can fet a full sized laptop with even more features, if you’re like me and you’re looking for something that isn’t heavy on your shoulders so that you can walk around with, this is a great laptop,  though I wouldn’t want to replace it with my desktop (I’m an avid desktop lover).

If you’re extremely mininimalistic and you’re looking for something to use only to type up documents or surf the net, no entertainment of any sort, go for the 4G, you won’t be sorry.

Another sad thing is that there’s no cd/dvd drive but hey… They do make external ones and you can always put it on a flash drive or an SD card.

Windows on PSP

January 5, 2009 by electnology

That’s right, you heard it.

Windows 95 on the PSP.

Amazing, isn’t it?

Though this takes about 10 minutes to load, it’s the real deal and I will soon try it for myself.

Since then, other people have hacked the PSP so that there can be windows xp on it and also linux.

It probably doesn’t have the full force a computer but hey, it’s still awesome.

You can find more info at this site.

DS Lite M3 DS Real and the R4 DS Revolution

January 4, 2009 by electnology

So have you guys heard of the M3 DS Real? Or the R4 DS Revolution?

These things are magical.

Built for the Nintendo DS, they’re basically  just an adapter for a MicroSD card, you know, the tiny little memory cards for your phone, to a Nintendo DS cartridge.

So you take the MicroSD card, stick it in the provided adapter that looks like this -

(called a T-Flash/MicroSD card reader) stick this into your computer and transfer DS games onto the memory card

stick the little memory card into the M3 DS Real or the R4 RS Revolution and voila, you have all the DS games you need that little cartridge.

Awesome, huh?

(Legally, of course, providing that you *ahem* own these other cartridges…)

No more carrying around 9 or 10 cartridges, worrying about if you’ll lose em or not, you just have to worry about one.

I personally had the M3 DS Real, but er, it got stolen… this time around, I’ll try the R4 DS Revolution but the M3 DS Real worked pretty great, except that the adapter was a bit of a tight squuze for my DS Lite.

There’s sure to be other products like this but these two are the only ones I’ve focused on and seem to be the most popular.

OH! And did I mention you can put GameBoy Advance games on the M3 DS Real? (You probably can for the R4 DS Revolution as well, but no promises there)

IKEA MAME mod

January 1, 2009 by electnology

Ah, for all you modders out there…

A someone went to IKEA and picked up a Ramvick sideboard and turned it into this! -

*drools* beautiful, isn’t it?

He used an old Powerbook to create this amazing piece of work which emulates…

You guessed it!

Old school arcade games <3

If you don’t know what emulators are, these babies enable you to play games from other platforms onto whatever platform you’re using.

It’s pretty sweet, I play NES games on my PSP =D

I actually went to IKEA today to look around =)

Genius Touch Panel Speakers

December 29, 2008 by electnology

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and I wish you all a happy new year.

I just put together a new computer and decided I’d like some nice speakers for it as well.

Introducing Genius SP-T1200.

Lovely, isn’t it?

Features a touch panel to control bass, volume, and treble.

And TigerDirect.com has these for really cheap at the moment ($59.99)  compared to it’s normal price of about $90.

If you’re looking for something else that’s sleek as well but a bit pricier check out the Logitech Z-10.

AND! for you geeks out there -

The Sonicum

=D I’m especialy fond of these, they touch my inner geekiness.

InvisibleShield

December 25, 2008 by electnology

If you own electronics and are terrified of scratches (ahem, all you iPod or iPhone users) -

BEHOLD!

InvisibleShield!

Originally made for the U.S. military to protect helicopter blade,

ZAGG now uses this same material to make screen protectors for your common electronics,

such as PSPs’, nintendo DSs’, blackberrys’ and many more.

NOT ONLY screen protectors

but also – FULL BODY PROTECTORS TOO!

I have one for my DS and my PSP myself and i love it =D

it also makes your electronics grippier,

which makes it feel much safer with my butterfingers.

Alternatively, there is another brand at a cheaper price called bestskinever, but I count vouch for it myself.

Nano technology

December 20, 2008 by electnology

So I was looking around Thinkgeek.com and found this neat little toy which…

Well…

Is made using nanotechnology to create a surface that causes water to hyper-bead.

A picture of the result below-

The goal of the game is to get the water into the little dimples in the board.

Awesome video below-

Omniphobic surface

December 18, 2008 by electnology

wha?

researchers have managed to create omniphobic materials!

meaning! that these materials repel both water AND oil!

So what you say?

SO WHAT???

This could make something (ahem, like a psp) FINGERPRINT RESISTANT!

An interesting video of this down below.
